Clockwork orange:

Choice of music:
In the scene, classical music is played in the background which is contrapuntal to the scene as the scene is quite violent. I wouldn't expect to hear classical music in a fighting scene, however i have found it quite common in comedies and whenever its used, the scene is normally in slow motion.

Why do you think the director used this piece to go with the action on the screen:
Personally, i believe the director used the apposing music to create a comical feel to the screen, especially in the way the violence is conducted. The way he hit the private part of the person he was with and the clothing they wore was quite comical and the opposing music makes it less serious. The slow mo makes it fit with the music and the dramatic leaps also fit it.
funny games:
What is the director saying about the family from the music played?
Rock music is quite a aggressive style of music and it is associated with being rebellious. This may imply that the family is rebellious to the police system and the family may be involved in some act of violence or crime as rock music is usually quite violent . At first they look like a normal family on a road trip and the classical music made it look this way, however the rock music makes it seem much more darker and violent but this music becomes non-diegetic as the actors can not here the music suggesting they have a darker hidden side that only the audience can see and hear.

How would you describe the use of the music?
I would describe it to be quite interesting as the contrast in the very different music and how it suddenly switches intrigues the audience as they will want to know why this contrast is presented this early and what will follow, also actions of the characters didn't match the music either showing it to be contrapuntal.

How do you think the narrative may develop?
The narrative can develop in many different ways. It may be a comical film as the music is completely out of context which may surprise the viewers. I think this because the facial expressions shown are quite relaxed and calming. The film could also develop into a thriller as the family may be chased after for committing crimes. The music is a hint towards drugs and violence which may show the family to be quite dark in their private life.

Once upon a time in the west
The constant sound of the fly as it gets louder builds up tension as the character becomes more and more irritated. The breathing sounds of the man increase as the fly continues to annoy him, this shows how irritated he is becoming and how the scene is about to reach the climax when he captures the fly. The sound bridge in the clip was at the start was the constant sound of the windmill as it spins is continuously played throughout the start of the clip through out multiple scenes. This is done to show how quiet and peaceful the environment is.

Once Upon A Time In America
The dialogue from the actors is diegetic as the other actors can hear what is being said and it hasn't been edited in. The phone ring is non diegetic as the actors can't actually hear it ringing during the actual scene it's all in the mans head so it has been edited in during the production. The drum roll background music is also non diegetic because it has been added during the production of the film. The high pitched squeak at the end is also non diegetic as it's been added after production. The narrator uses the phone to link the narrative. From the first scene throughout to the end the phone ringing is a significant feature in the clip. At the beginning it appears non diegetic as it seems as though the actors cant hear it.As the scene continues so does the ringing of the phone, which remains to be non diegetic as its been added to show the significant journey. By the last scene the phone ringing becomes diegetic. This helps with the narrative because we are able to identify the first part of the clip as memories and the ending is present day.
